It’s a good thing a group of dedicated fans are spending time and effort to polish this forgotten classic to its rightful status. With a few years and a couple thousand man hours of work, this could become the 6/10 it was destined to be. We finally have a good Spider-Man game, and not only is it good, it’s the best Spider-Man game ever made. Possibly one of the best games ever made period. 5. Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario was one of the first videogames, and one of the videogames of all times. To some, it was the videogame. To others, it was more than a videogame. It was something else. To me, it was quite the videogame. A classic one. You see? We here at Load Last Save LOVE videogames, and we play them, so we’re giving the OG Super Mario Bros. the respect it deserves by putting it at number five on our list. Sure, it’s incredibly primitive by our modern standards; it doesn’t have a story, no cutscenes, and Mario doesn’t even have a son or daughter, but it’s still a gaming icon. A legend. An iconic legend. A legendary icon. A classic legend. A classic iconic legendary icon who is also a classic and a legendary classic while also being a classical legendary icon that I have definitely played and am not putting it here on the list for fake gamer cred and because it’s some sort of moral obligation to make me seem like I care about old games when all I want to do is play modern 3D games with crafting and 20 hours of cutscenes. It was the videogame that introduced Mario to the world, and gave us a heart-warming tale of friendship, and who could forget Mario’s iconic catchphrase “It’s-a time to do my taxes!”
4. The Last of Us 2
Few games have made us at the Load Last Save office cry like this one. The story is so emotional, impactful, so visceral. It’s a heart-wrenching story about how violence is bad, in a 20-hour game where all you do is solve your problems with extreme violence. I loved seeing the classic, iconic, beloved characters from the first game suffer in extreme agony. Every time I booted up my Sony PlayStation 5, my hands shook in excitement waiting to see what tortures were in store for Ellie and Joel. The scene where Joel gets murdered was so impactful. It caused Ellie so much pain, and I loved it. I love misery. It’s iconic.
3. God of War: Ragnarok
Kratos is back, the biggest and the betterest he’s ever been. His beard is at its apex, his muscles ripple with the musculature of a muscled mussel on the shores of Elysium. The boy is here, he is boy again, reprising his role as son, seed of Kratos. Together they embark on a mission to finally rid the world of religion, to bring true Atheism to the Earth and become the most enlightened beings. They don their blades and stab everything in this mature story about a man and his offspring. When you’re not stabbing, you’re solving some of the most difficult puzzles known to man or marmoset. Levers, switches, panels. It has all the mechanics I crave. My brain was exercised and my fluids were moved. The story? It had plot. The moment when Kratos? Moving. I cried when son said “dad” and Kratos said “son” and son said “Dad you’re… my father” and I cried because I too am father. I am the target demographic for this game. My son came into the room and asked why I was crying at the game and I said “Son get out of here. The games I’m engaged with are not for the youth. Your small mind will be scarred by the emotional turmoil”. And lo his mind did scar, and the turmoil was great, and he rent his vestments and poured ash on his head.
2. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
This game’s hard man. Dang old classic, man. Iconic, I tell ya what. Melania Trump and stuff. Let me Solo her, dang old man in a pot. Big tree.
1. Hollow Knight: Silksong
I got to play an advanced build of Silksong. It was the greatest gaming experience of my life. Anything else is humbled before it. Its majesty cannot be overstated. Every pixel on screen sang with the voices of angels. The movement was smooth as… silk. It somehow improved on the first game. There was a section where you fight an entire army of bugs, and the combat is simply sublime. It’s like Ninja Gaiden 2 but somehow better. I was gliding from one enemy to the next, like a flowing river of slashes and strikes. It’s the greatest combat system I’ve ever laid my hands on. It was like controlling a butterfly floating on the winds of a child’s dream.
The story moved me. It shook my very essence. The writing was divinely inspired. I felt the weight of each word as it wove a complex tale on par with the greatest literary classics. My eyes did behold the tale. I saw the words spin and dance before me, like snowflakes and each syllable landed on my brain and fired synapses of joy I thought long dead.
The music. Oh the music. The choirs of heaven may as well be silent before such glory. If I should become deaf after experiencing such compositions, it would be a small price to pay. The notes themselves seem divinely authored, each beat rumbles with the authority of a war drum and the warmth of a mother’s soothing voice. Everything about it was perfect. immaculate. Iconic doesn’t begin to cover it.
Classic does not do it justice. I weep, for I have beheld the face of Silksong. My words are not enough. How could I describe such magnificence to you? I am but a mere vessel, and the words are too great for a man of my stature to exclaim. How could I describe color to the blind? Sound to the deaf? No matter how many adjectives I use, no matter what obscure and arcane words I can conjure can replicate the experience of playing this game. It would be like describing the texture of a lover’s lips. I could spend hours typing, composing sonnets, trying to twist mere letters and words into ideas, but no human mind can fathom such heights without experiencing it themselves. Such heights that would make angels dizzy with fear. I can only leave you with my words, a half-finished painting in a dark room, and hope that one day you too can touch this masterpiece.
Conclusion
There ya have it, folks. One hundred of the most iconic gaming classics ever made. This list is complete, definitive and will never be altered. Gaming has peaked here, it will never get better. My opinions on this are 100% correct, factual and objective. This list is completely serious, and if you disagree with one jot, one tittle of this list, then you’re unworthy of gaming as a concept. Find another hobby, like knitting, or something else.

This post is iconic and history will remember it as a classic.
